In August of 2017, Georgia Power selected Bechtel to complete construction of the two-reactor expansion of a nuclear power plant near Augusta, Georgia. Plant Vogtle Units 3 & 4 will be the first new units built in the U.S. in the last three decades and are currently the only new units being constructed in the country.

At the peak of construction, this vital project will employ up to 5,000 on site. These positions will include building tradespeople, engineers, field supervisors, construction and project managers, quality assurance professionals, safety professionals, procurement, subcontract specialists and many others.

This position may be required to work a schedule of rotating shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays. All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment. The ability to obtain/maintain access to the facility is required.

SUMMARY:

Performs on-project cost, scheduling, estimating, analysis, and control activities including:

  • Schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, impact identification, and recovery planning

  • Estimate development, budget control, reporting and analysis

  • Support studies, forecasts, problem solving exercises as required

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Applies established unit job hour and pricing data for a specific discipline or other specialty, including estimating parameters, factors, indices, productivity and craft distribution reference data, etc. Performs data analysis, identifies problems, and assists with recommendations.

2. Prepares/monitors/reports distributable and/or contractors’ indirect cost estimates, including temporary facilities, miscellaneous construction services, construction tools and equipment, non-manual manpower other field office costs. Plans and/or supervises the effort to establish milestones for total project or major portions of the project. Reviews project work activities to ensure support of project milestones.

3. Performs integration of individual schedules into the total project plan. Prepares performing organization’s work logics in support of overall project schedule.

4. Performs schedule resource loading and leveling. Development/status/report of all bulk commodity release and installation curves.

5. Maintains open communications with other organizations to support schedule maintenance and reporting. Identifies schedule restraints.

6. Monitors and reports critical path and schedule performance. Performs schedule analysis and studies of problem areas to determine criticality of schedule activities. Identifies alternatives for schedule improvement to project team for discussion and/or decision.

7. Prepares schedule recovery plans when required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with 6 years of related work experience. In lieu of degree, 12 years of related work experience required.

  • Must have the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in preparing, monitoring, and reporting cost and schedule information in construction environments.

  • Knowledge in the use of computers for executing work processes.

  • Statistical knowledge in the areas of sampling, distributions, probability, and hypothesis testing for metrics.

  • Skilled in oral and written communication.

  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.

  • Proficiency in using PC operating systems and several basic software applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as schedule network software such as Primavera.
