SUMMARY:

This senior position will report directly to the Project Director, based in either the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or Dubai (yet to be determined). The role shall be to: champion and manage the commercial interface between our joint venture partners and the TS group; and represent the joint ventures interests on transit system commercial issues arising between our consortium and the Customer. Listed below are some essential job duties and key knowledge, skills and experience:

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Manage the commercial interface on transit system issues for joint venture with TS

  • Represent the joint ventures interests on transit system commercial issues between the consortium and the Customer.

  • Participate in the identification, review and resolution of commercial issues between joint venture and TS.

  • Participate in the identification, review and resolution of commercial issues between consortium and the Customer.

  • Identify areas of risk and opportunity due to ambiguities, omissions and conflicts in the content of documents relative to the prime contract with the customer and in respect of the agreement with the transit systems consortium partner.

  • Supports the creation of a positive work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

  • Provide commercial leadership and support to all departments through Test & Commissioning (T&C) and Bringing Into Use.

  • Assist in on-the-job-training and development of assigned personnel. Provide constructive input for their performance evaluations.

KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to present complex matters (simplified) to stakeholders, senior management and peers.

  • Strong commercial negotiation skills.

  • In addition to knowledge of Rail Project Civil/Structure/Stations scope, extensive knowledge of Rail Systems (RS) is expected. Rail Systems are defined as all railway infrastructure fixed equipment, including track, overhead line, signalling, telecommunications, control centre and on-board/mobile signalling and telecommunications equipment.

  • Proven track record in delivering new build metropolitan projects >£500m to budget and on schedule. Knowledge of existing rail network upgrade projects.

  • Extensive experience of undertaking, planning and managing self-perform multidiscipline rail design from feasibility to detailed design (including as-builts)

  • Experience in providing commercial leadership and support to all departments through Test & Commissioning (T&C) and Bringing Into Use.

  • Experience of the complex interfaces between railway system design and the detailed civil works design prepared and multiple design contractors on a project.

  • Extensive knowledge of rail systems home office engineering, field engineering, procurement, installation and T&C activities.

  • Ability to develop the project proposals (scope, cost plan, schedule and execution strategy).

  • Awareness of Rail industry standards, e.g. CENELEC standards, NFPA, AREMA, etc.

  • Understanding of the roles played by all parties on large complex rail projects, including construction practices and the economics involved.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

The above is normally acquired through:

  • A recognized degree in a business, quantity surveying, law, engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university, OR

  • A professional chartership in an appropriate discipline from a recognized Institution,

AND

  • Extensive practical work experience at senior commercial level within a major rail systems provider.

  • Extensive practical experience in delivery of major new build rail infrastructure, both pre and post award.
