Bechtel is searching for a Threat Intelligence Analyst to work with our Computer Incident Response Team in Glendale, Arizona or Reston, Virginia. Job duties include:

  • Develop new threat intelligence, detection, and hardening strategies

  • Provide information protection expertise to operational teams to ensure systems are properly protected and monitored by design

  • Analyze cyber threat data and correlate with existing understanding of cyber threats impacting Bechtel's environment

  • Evangelize security within Bechtel and drive changes needed to respond to emerging threats

  • Profile new and emerging threats to the technology landscape

  • Enhance internal investigation capabilities for responding to security events

  • Serve as a member of the incident response team, providing mentoring to other team members as needed, while performing Level 2 support

  • Contribute ideas to the future state technology roadmap ensuring effective investments are made to enable scale, quality, and maintenance and overall cost effectiveness

  • Operate the SIEM and Security Analytics systems along with security monitoring and third-party tools used for intrusion analysis and incident response

  • Support information security investigations

  • Regularly analyze Bechtel's intrusion resistance technologies and lead efforts to improve through improvements to the Threat Intelligence program

  • Refresh/develop new threat intelligence, detection, hardening strategies

  • Provide information protection expertise to Information Technology operational teams to ensure systems are properly protected and monitored

  • Improve internal investigation capabilities through threat intelligence program development and training

  • Serve as the threat intelligence technical subject matter expert to the event response team, providing mentoring to other team members as needed

Basic Qualifications:

Level 1

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field; or 9 years of IT work experience in lieu of degree

  • 1 year of experience dealing with targeted attacks

  • 3 years of progressive experience in information security, including experience with Information Security tools and technology

  • Must be a United States citizen

Level 2

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field; or 9 years of IT work experience in lieu of degree

  • 3 years of experience dealing with targeted attacks

  • 6 years of progressive experience in information security, including experience with Information Security tools and technology

  • Must be a United States citizen

Other Qualifications:

  • Experience in management of Internet brand identity

  • Knowledge of network- and reputation-based attacks and mitigation methods

  • Experience summarizing complex information security concepts and ongoing threat events for management consumption

  • An understanding of commonly used targeted attack techniques, tactics, and procedures

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills including forensics reports and investigation summaries

  • Familiarity with security analysis technologies and how they are used for security analysis

  • Expertise with log analysis and event correlation

  • CISSP, GIAC, or other security recognition desirable

  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
