As a lead member of the Global IS&T (Information Systems and Technology) Strategy and Enterprise Architecture (S&EA) team, the goal of the Enterprise Architect position is to advance the IS&T technology strategy and implementation as it relates to the Bechtel Digital Enterprise Program’s business vision, mission, and objectives. The Enterprise Architect must ensure technology platforms can evolve to support a high performance, data centric, and scalable environment, and are reliable, secured, and maintainable for a global enterprise.
The Enterprise Architect will lead by example in a global business environment formulating a strategic multi-year enterprise platform architecture portfolio rationalization and transformation initiative. This is a hands-on (individual contributor) leadership position with responsibility for setting technical and architectural direction and seeing the direction through to high-quality solution deployments.
The Enterprise Architect (EA) will be responsible for defining enterprise application, information, and integration architecture platform standards, evaluating technologies, designing solutions and reference architecture, documenting and managing implementation of multi-year roadmaps that solve Bechtel business problems.
As a member of the S&EA organization, working with the Bechtel Digital Enterprise Program (DEP) leads, the Enterprise Architect coordinates the development of architectural frameworks and leads the population and governance of these frameworks with coherent and consistent architectural views.
Provide technology vision and direction and influence and educate a wide range of audiences
Provide leadership and facilitate cross discipline discussions and decisions regarding Global IS&T architectural direction
Oversee, develop, and implement critical architectural designs and data structures, including data quality, master data management, and data governance
Design overall system and solution architecture, system integration, and implementation strategy
Generate conceptual/logical architectures, system documents, testing analyses, test plans, and risk assessments
Identify possible opportunities inherent to the technology and future market changes, including development, socialization and concurrence on an overall enterprise architecture platform roadmap
Develop, influence, and review major application interface specifications and associated service levels
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field
15+ years of relevant experience in the field of information technology
10+ years of experience relevant to this position with large enterprise deployments (10,000+ users)
Expert knowledge and 7+ years of experience with designing enterprise architecture for a multi-business unit Fortune 500 global company or similar that encompasses the following:
Systems architecture such as, platform, database, servers, communication technologies
Integration and Interoperability - Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
Business Process Management (BPM)
Information management, Security and Control
IT portfolio rationalization experience with the ability to form architecture solutions and projects that are based on business operating model and IT roadmap alignment across multiple domains
Experience with an SDLC and where Enterprise Architecture will interface, touch and provide value
Execute large scale system integration programs through enterprise systems (e.g., SCM, BI, Project Controls, Quality Management, etc.)
Experience with a broad range of technologies and multiple IT domains
Experience as a technical lead on complex assignments that contain multiple threads
Master’s Degree preferred
TOGAF certification (or similar Enterprise Architecture certification) preferred
Prior experience in a team lead or management position
Understands Six Sigma and/or Lean principles
Demonstrated experience working with, and presenting to, executive management
Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of constituencies
Ability to work with diverse groups of people
Strong communicator and able to draw consensus from multiple disciplines
