DIGITAL FORENSICS ANALYST
Provides comprehensive electronic database and information management support to functional departments and projects in retrieval of information from computers and other types of storage devices. Performs special assignments requiring a thorough knowledge of specific subject matters, e.g., digital forensics acquisition, e-discovery collection processes and procedures. May direct the activities of others. Coordinates and monitors work flow and quality of work within assigned area.
Provides broad support for all aspects of department and/or project administration in a complex worldwide organization.
Performs Forensic data acquisitions / collections in support of investigations and electronic discovery matters. Coordinates the preservation, and collection of materials and information related to the company's disputes in collaboration with the legal holds administrator and counsel. Develops and generates standard and ad hoc reports from various company systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Images laptops, desktops, mobile devices.
Collects data from enterprise file servers, email, and database systems.
Coordinates the work of outside data collection firms.
Conducts Forensic analysis, processing and tracking of collected data.
Works with Senior Information Resources Manager to establish standard data collection practices.
Works with IS&T and legal holds administrator on preservation plans and collections.
Assists with software installations and upgrades, analyzes and troubleshoots application issues.
Administers and maintains inventories of legal information assets including legal holds servers.
Facilitates and conducts training sessions on data collections and acquisitions.
Informs Senior Information Resources Manager regarding project progress and issues.
Creates and maintains project and chain of custody documentation, ensuring a clear audit trail.
Works on other information resources projects as requested.
After hours and weekends are sometimes required.
Proficient in the use of EnCase or Forensic Toolkit or SMART or open-source forensic tools.
Hands on collection experience relating but not limited the following: Laptops / Desktops / File Servers / Hand held devices.
Strong technical experience with installing, networking, and troubleshooting personal computers and servers.
Programming, scripting, and/or database design experience is a plus.
Knowledge of mobile device forensics is a plus.
Understanding of eDiscovery software and enterprise systems a plus.
Knowledge of structuring Boolean searches and SQL search logic a plus.
Superior attention to detail, problem solving capabilities and multitasking skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to articulate complex technical issues to non-technical audiences.
Ability to independently conduct comprehensive analysis of computer equipment and data storage devices
Must be proactive, able to work independently, prioritize workload, exercise judgment and discretion and act as liaison among IS&T, in-house and outside counsel.
Must be a team player and have a strong work ethic, integrity.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in computer forensics / electronic discovery.
Certified Computer Examiner (CCE) or EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE) certification or eligibility to sit for and pass one of these exams within 1 year from the date of hire.
