Project is seeking a People Based Safety (PBS) Coordinator (behavioral observation processes). This person will assist the PBS Lead and work under their supervision and HSSE Manager or designee in the project Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSSE) program. This is an excellent role for a person knowledgeable and trained in PBS but is limited practical/implementation experience.
The main duties associated with this role are:
Provide assistance in the leadership and facilitating PBS activities with the site construction team including employees, management unions, union reps. and contractors
Assist in the development, supervision the implementation of the project PBS plan in accordance with the HSSE procedures and core processes
Assists the PBS Facilitator/project safety manager in PBS personnel selection, such as recruitment, training, or employee development
Help organize the team meetings and organize lists for team tracking
Maintain an action items list, and a team successes list
Prepares weekly agenda for the behavior observation team leaders
Develop and implement an effective communication plan (e.g., newsletter)
Develop continuous improvement plan
Establish targets quality, number of checklists, antecedent, behavior consequence analysis
Support the development of a PBS recognition plan, promote PBS throughout the project
Provide direct technical support and assistance to construction subcontractors and service providers in planning and executing field activities in accordance with the project safety requirements
Participate in meetings with the client, subcontractors, service providers, and project team members to advise of safety requirements that may affect project design, schedule, and cost
Conduct safety and health assessments/inspections of project construction activities to monitor compliance with safety and health requirements including contractual commitments, laws and regulations, and the project’s HSE Management Plan
Prepare performance and audit reports consistent with HSSE Management Plan and client requirements
Draft safety and health specific plans, project specific mitigation plans, safety and health awareness training programs, and technical and regulatory reports
Other duties as allocated by direct supervision
Experience/educated/trained in managing behavior based safety programs with a diverse team.
Excellent communication skills are a mandatory skill set.
Experience in incident analysis, corrective action development, and reporting.
Degree in Safety and Health or Hazard Management is desirable.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team (construction, subcontractor, procurement, engineering, etc.).
Knowledge of national safety laws/regulations and regulatory agencies’ regulatory requirements and responsibilities, industry standards/current practices for safety/health, and best management practices for minimizing potential safety/health risks during project execution.
Knowledge of hazardous materials associated physical risks and appropriate mechanisms to mitigate risk.
Previous site experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability for technical problem solving, technical writing, and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
