Job description

Reports directly to the Finance and Accounting supervisor; and interfaces with other service locations, project offices and vendors regarding invoice payment process.

Performs a variety of accounting tasks applying basic principles and concepts of accounting in a narrow part of the accounting system, within clearly defined assignments. Tasks provide direct exposure to accounting, financial or tax problems and requirements and provide acquaintance with corporate systems and procedures.

Essential Job Duties:

Initiate contact/correspond with project personnel on commitment documents, material receiving reports, approvals, and invoices to ensure timely payment of invoices;

Audit invoices ensuring corporate policies and procedures are properly adhered to;

Research, analyze, and resolve issues with invoices collaboratively with Project personnel and supplier contacts;

Scheduling invoices for payment in coordination with the Accounting Supervisor;

Responsible for the payment of local vendor invoices (appropriate terms, remittance sites, banking, currency, etc.);

Processing of employee expense reports;

Processing of international assignees Pay Period Adjustments;

Procuring the tax identification number for new international assignees;

Preparing monthly journal vouchers to upload transactions into Oracle General Ledger;

Record appropriate cost coding information;

Petty cash payments management;

Reviewing vendor statements;

Customer service/vendor calls as required;

Regular interaction/correspondence with project personnel;

F&A Archives maintenance as required;

Assist with reporting requirements from the Accounting Supervisor, project personnel, other finance departments, or management as needed and other duties as assigned.

Job Knowledge:

Specific knowledge of accounts payable cycle from material requisition to actual payment is highly desirable.

Intermediate skills in the areas of oral and written communications, imaging software, document management software, MS Office suite of applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook), accounts payable and general accounting are required.

Must have strong customer service focus.

Basic Qualifications:

Academic degree in Accounting or a related field and at least five years of accounting experience.

Must have legal right to work in Gabon without sponsorship.

Must be proficient in French and English Language (Speak/ Read/ Write).

Prior experience in an accounting operation using a major ERP (Oracle/SAP) system is highly desirable.

Must be dependable, punctual, conscientious, and function well in a team environment.

Must maintain confidentiality of all information entrusted to the position.

Must be flexible and adaptable and can maintain a positive and professional attitude and able to perform under stress.

Must be able to work independently, taking initiative identifying and resolving issues, managing workload, and handling correspondence.

Good organization skills, ability to provide constant attention to detail, and have ability to apply quality control over a heavy volume work with tight deadlines are required.
