Implements and recommends changes to the Information Technology (IT) plan on small- to medium-sized projects; configures and installs standard hardware and software; provides comprehensive automation support and coordination to the project; and implements the IT portion of the project closeout plan. Performs a broad range of technical or professional work activities in a wide variety of contexts, some of them moderately complex and non-routine. Plans and schedules own work selecting and utilizing appropriate methods, procedures, tools, equipment, and standards effectively, to meet targets set. Exercises professional judgment within the framework of broad guidelines provided by superiors.
A. Supervision Received
Receives technical guidance and administrative supervision from a Project IT Team Lead.
Works under general direction within a clearly defined accountability framework.
B. Supervision Exercised
None. May provide technical direction and training to Project IT subordinates or others who assist in Project IT related assignments.
May provide advice and guidance to less experienced colleagues and undertake elements of leadership within Project IT.
Makes frequent contact with other personnel in Information Systems & Technology (IS&T), other Bechtel functions and/or projects, and selected internal customers.
Makes frequent contact with vendors regarding hardware, software, and communications capabilities, as directed.
Contacts client representatives and joint venture partners regarding coordinating and interfacing of infrastructure systems, as required and as directed.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Provides comprehensive technical support and training coordination to implement the Project IT Plan on small- to medium-sized projects.
2. Recommends updates required to meet changes in information technology and project scope.
3. Plans, supports, and coordinates project automation requirements and records best practices.
4. Communicates standard IS&T services to the project for hardware, software, and communications.
5. Identifies and develops discipline standards (Bechtel Refined Intellectual Capital - BRICs).
6. Processes and implements non-standard requests according to global/regional automation policies and procedures.
7. Provides input towards the development of the project budget, cost estimates, and evaluating buy vs. build.
8. Maintains accurate and timely asset management and inventory control of computer hardware and software.
9. Coordinates and supports the implementation and maintenance of the project web site.
10. Adheres to Bechtel’s safety program as it relates to Project IT systems.
Basic knowledge of the coordination and execution of Project IT plans.
Basic understanding of application architecture concepts and standards, set-up and migration procedures.
Basic knowledge of hardware and operating systems including system architectures, network infrastructures, client server principles, backup, recovery, and storage policies and procedures, and planning and implementing disaster prevention and recovery.
Basic understanding of business case analysis and reporting and evaluating buy vs. build.
Basic knowledge of telecommunications systems, protocols, and support.
Basic knowledge of web-based technologies including web page development and maintenance and web-based tools and utilities.
Ability to articulate ideas and write clear and concise reports.
Ability to identify, track, escalate and resolve problems using comprehensive techniques and methods of troubleshooting end-user problems.
The above may be acquired through:
Recognized degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline from an accredited college or university, or
Practical work experience in information systems and technology, and
Microsoft Desktop and Server Operating System certification.

Position for Quebrada Blanca Fase 2 Project Iquique, Port or Concentrator, Chile . With the purpose of being accredited to perform in the field, the position will begin in Iquique until receiving the corresponding authorization and then will move to the field as soon as possible to join the respective shift.
Salary will be based on current market rates and the posted grade will not be adjusted to suit the successful candidate.
