Role Overview:

Works independently to develop, implement and manage the Wylfa Project Training and Competency Programme. Responsible for ensuring integration of client, regulatory, applicable global business unit requirements and management expectations to produce bespoke process for:

  • Onboarding personnel to the Wylfa Newydd Nuclear Power Plant project

  • Conducting project specific and UK specific trainings of all personnel

  • Support project training across all functions

  • Evaluation and demonstration of staff competency in line with the guidelines and the graded approach to safety affecting work

  • Managing the process for the design, development, implementation and evaluation of nuclear training processes; incl. the required reading process for specific documents

  • Liaising with the Corporate Functional Managers to ensure functional specific training is flowed to individuals on the project

  • Maintaining records related to all of the above

The role requires a high degree of accuracy, accountability, initiative, judgement, exceptional organizational skills, discretion, and advanced knowledge of standard computerized systems, including Learning Management System (LMS) software. Clear and effective communication with senior management, customers, and coworkers is required. Ability to work well in a team environment.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop / Implement and use appropriate Learning Management System(s) to implement and manage training compliance and associated records

  • Ensure close collaboration with HR, EH&S, Security, Environment, QA, Construction, Engineering and PM managers on the project to develop the required learning experiences

  • Plans, develop, coordinates, and directs activities to develop on-line and instructor-led training materials; design for communication tools and resources; assessment of third-party vendors to provide course design, translation services, subscription services etc.; provide alerts and bulletins

  • Monitor and track required reading of documents to ensure requirements are met

  • Routinely provide metrics to management regarding personnel compliance to training requirements

  • Log training records into the electronic document management system (EDMS).

  • Receive new procedures or revisions to existing documents that generate new required reading records and include in the programme

  • Receive and track joining and leaving personnel information.

  • Develop and update training matrix, as required.

  • Perform routine audits to assure that the LMS, tracking programs and compliance metrics are aligned.

  • Process a high volume of training related documentation.

  • Prepare routine documents using word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint or other office software, as needed, to support work activities.

  • Continue to challenge technology, techniques, and methods to provide the most effective and least resource intensive L&D solutions while assuring compliance

  • Provide technical guidance to project personnel in use of LMS automation tools and processes.

  • Good communication skills both oral (listening/speaking), written, and presentation.

  • Able to anticipate problems, develop solutions, implement a plan of action, follow through on an assignment including providing feedback and continual refinement.

  • Knowledge of records management and document control processes.

  • Flexible, able to accept and quickly change directions in work focus.

  • Knowledge of standard office automation tools, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio

  • Able to author, interpret and implement procedures in a clear, concise manner.

  • Able to support audits for quality assurance internal technical reviews, client reviews, and ISO audits

Basic Qualifications:

  • Working understanding of systematic approach to training requirements and methods

  • Experience with and technical knowledge of computer based training development and web based software

  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, practices and criteria pertinent to UK EPC, nuclear or highly regulated industry learning and development needs.

  • The ability to extract, compile, and analyze non-technical and semi-technical data for presentation

  • Knowledgeable in records management and document control processes.

  • Familiar with a variety of project documents and document processing requirement

  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, practices and criteria pertinent to learning and development needs.

  • Demonstrated skill in group presentations

  • Demonstrated skill in oral and written communication

  • Must be able to obtain required BPSS security check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Requires a Higher Education certificate or diploma and relevant related experience in Learning and Development Management or Business Administration; Or an equivalency of progressive, relevant education and operations work experience

  • Experience with and technical knowledge of computer-based training development and web-based software

  • Experience with large complex, highly regulated, EPC and / or nuclear environments

  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, practices and criteria pertinent to UK learning and development needs.

  • Experience working with electronic LMS systems

  • Knowledge of engineering, procurement, construction, operations and demonstrated understanding of procedure, operations and quality concepts
