The Piping Field Engineers is responsible for working with members of the engineering, construction, procurement, and project controls teams to develop turnover system scoping, work package scoping, subcontract scope packages, and FMRs to support the Subcontractors piping and mechanical construction activities.
The responsibilities of the Piping FE include the following:
Providing technical assistance to the Subcontractor’s piping superintendents and crafts.
Implementing the project ES&H program and quality control program.
Performing inspections and documentation of all the Subcontractor’s piping work in progress on a continuing basis, and completing the final P&ID checks prior to turnover.
Assisting supervision and project controls in the preparation of detailed work plans and short-term schedules.
Responsible for assisting the Subcontractor with the development of piping work packages.
drawings, providing input to the quantity tracking applications, and reporting weekly installed quantities to project controls.
Assisting field procurement in inspection and receipt of piping materials.
Performing take-offs and initiating and tracking requisitions for field purchased material for both permanent plant and temporary piping commodities.
Trouble-shooting engineering design and resolving issues with engineering and/or fabricators.
Working within TEAMWorks to verify piping quantities provided by the Subcontractor.
Responsible for assisting the Subcontractor in the development of hydrotest packages and responsible for verifying and witnessing hydrotest acceptance.
Coordinating with subcontractors and vendor technical advisors as required.
Working with project procurement to expedite and track the delivery of pipe, valves, and hangers to meet project schedule requirements.
Working closely with other discipline field engineers and coordinating efforts and activities to meet the project requirements.
Facilitating the resolution of field installation problems.
Assisting in the performance of technical reviews of all required subcontractor submittals to assure compliance with the requirements of the subcontract.
Must have knowledge and understanding of Bechtel's Standard Work Process Procedure SWPP’s as well as ASME B31.3 requirements for Process Piping
Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued personal protective equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. body harness, life vest, etc.)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, or 15-20 years of relevant experience in the absence of a degree.
Must be familiar with the Bechtel Business Ethics handbook and policies.
Must have knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the Bechtel Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Core Processes and Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents” philosophy.
Must have knowledge and understanding of Bechtel's Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs).
Must have knowledge and understanding of Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects.
Must be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications in accordance with current BSAP standards.
Must be familiar with current industry quality standards and applicable code requirements.
Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of ASME B31 family of codes and means and methods of leak testing and pipe flushing
Must have knowledge and understanding of the formation and administration of construction subcontracts.
Work location is in Galeota Point, Trinidad.
