SUMMARY:

The Mining & Metals global business unit (GBU) project execution risk management (PERM) Risk Analyst’s primary role is to work with the Mining & Metals GBU PERM Risk Manager and assist in the implementation, training, and execution in the deployment of PERM policies, processes, and procedures throughout the Mining & Metals GBU. The GBU PERM Risk Analyst will provide support in the delivery of information for proposals, development of risk management activities on projects and review of PERM activities on active projects for compliance with risk management policies, practices, and procedures. The GBU PERM Risk Analyst will work closely with the GBU PERM Risk Manager in determining the activity priority execution of his/her duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Supports the Mining & Metals PERM GBU Risk Manager in the implementation of the following activities:

  • Risk workshop facilitation including the assessment and treatment planning of threats and opportunities on proposals and projects.

  • Provides support in the development of project risk management plans in both the proposal and delivery phases, as requested.

  • Co-ordinates risk workshops, compiles reports, scheduling meetings, taking notes, and updating risk registers.

  • Enters and updates risk information in the risk register using ARM software.

  • Works with the ARM Administrator and ARM Systems Specialist on the deployment of ARM to new projects.

  • Delivers PERM training including project and corporate function trainings.

  • Interfaces with multiple functions including Project Controls, Quality, Six Sigma, and Project Management as required.

  • Maintains regular/ongoing contact and working relationships with core PERM team, to include all GBU PERM Risk Managers.

  • Maintains contact with project leadership and project risk personnel or those carrying out the project risk function to aid and to ensure compliance with Risk Management policies, processes, and procedures.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

  • Expert knowledge of project risk management process.

  • Working understanding of ARM risk management software or equivalent.

  • Experience in analyzing, summarizing, and compiling complex data for reports.

  • Proven ability to conduct high-level data compilation, interpretation, and analysis to include summary report production and results presentation.

  • Ability to facilitate risk workshops.

  • Knowledge of @Risk and Primavera Risk Analysis (PRA) software tools.

  • Knowledge of Bechtel organization, structure, operations, and procedures a plus.

  • Experience working with geographically separated and remote teams.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • College degree, preferably in risk or a technical, scientific or other numerate subject (Master’s degree considered a plus).

  • At least two years of on-site project experience or experience in an industrial construction environment.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels of stakeholders.

  • Understanding of the fundamentals of project risk management.

  • Mature skills in planning and organizing, and handling conflicting priorities in a business-driven way under guidance from a manager.

  • Willing to work in a small team with the ability to be flexible in taking ownership of problems on behalf of the team and being committed to delivering results even in adverse circumstances.

  • Experience working with geographically separated and remote teams.

  • A genuine interest in pursuing a long-term role in risk management.

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and aptitude.

  • Must have legal right to work in Australia without sponsorship.
